I have been coming to this bakery for well over a decade. It is such a classic in the East Pasadena area. Recently I drove by and was reminded that it was time to try it again. I noticed the place was full of regulars and had a very vibrant energy. The house coffee they serve is delicious and piping hot. They were out of a couple of things I wanted but some of the fellow customers suggested their favorites and I ended up with a delicious mix of items. I always get some lahna June. I also picked up the stuffed cheese and nasturma bread and stuffed mushroom pastry. I loved how it was full of mushrooms with no filler. I didn't expect it to have the spicy kick that it did. Some red peppers were added in but they were not too spicy in my opinion. I was so happy they had the jingalov hats, flatbread stuffed with a mixture of greens and herbs. I find this item so clean and refreshing. I often go pick them up in Glendale but it's nice to have them in Pasadena as well. Everything heated up wonderfully in the air fryer which warmed it through and kept all the crispy edges.

The Standout: Basturma and the Soujouk Turnover. Absolutely my favorite item. The Khachapuri was good, don't get me wrong, but it was hard shove in mouth and I am Not a fan of runny eggs. But the Turnover $4, what a tasty treat that is grab and go! What a delicious pocket of cheese and protein goodness. Be warned that the Soujouk can squirt oil! But dayum it was worth every bite! Warm it up for 10 seconds and it will legit blow your mind!

The Old Sasoon Bakery has been serving up traditional homemade Armenian and Georgian delights since 1986. Today, in 2024, I finally discovered them. Known for amazing beorags (savory hand pies), the lahmajoun (flatbreads) and delicious baklava as wonderful grab-and-go options, please do yourself a favor and sit down for their well-made khachapuri if time allows (about 15 minutes). The Old Sassoon's version of this delicious and filling Georgian breakfast staple comes topped with a blend of cheeses, a single runny egg, melted butter -- all in a boat-shaped flatbread. The bread is outstanding - perfectly cooked and delicious. The simple combination of flavors inside are hearty, full of depth, and just plain scrumptious. For $9, it is quite filling and a great value for a quick and easy food item. The ambiance is calm, peaceful. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options, tons of street parking (without meters) along Allen or any of the quiet Pasadena side streets. The bathrooms are very clean as well. The staff is very friendly, carrying on the decades of tradition of Haroutioun Geragosian when he founded the location nearly 40 years ago. One of the gems of Pasadena, The Old Sasoon Bakery is a great stop whenever you are in the area. Highly recommend!

A joyous spot to dine in Pasadena!! We each ordered the Khachapuri breakfast special, available until 3 pm. You can order it plain or add other toppings. I got mine with green olives, and as a major olive fan it was a generous portion of toppings! For only $9 this is a huge meal (I was only able to eat half). It's baked to order so it was super fresh and warm. The bread is soft and the cheese is salty which I love. There's a runny egg in the middle to dip the crust of the bread in. It was a very heartwarming and filling meal. Fountain drinks and coffee are available. There's limited indoor seating but ample outdoor seating. No restrooms. Street parking. It's quiet and the staff are kind. Will definitely be back the next time I am in Pasadena!!

A favorite breakfast spot for us. We come for the khachapuri that is made to order, so fresh, sooo good and filling, their beorags and turnovers -yummy dough decently filled with spinach, cheese, olives, and spices! The food is awesome and the service equals that! The owner Mr. Geragosian is always there to greet despite how busy they can get! Such a pleasant place and will continue to support!

This spot has been opened since 1948 serving traditional Armenian and Georgian food. Khachapuri - my first time trying it and it was very taste. They make it fresh so it can take around 15-20 minutes. It's almost like a flatbread but the middle is more like a pocket of Georgian cheese filling and an egg on top. We thought it was very tasty, decadent and not something we've tried before! Definitely worth trying. Baklava (small) - The baklava set was also extremely delicious! And eating it over 4 days, it never lost its crunch. My favorite was the one with a little pistachio fillings, but all of them were flakey, light and had many layers.

While on my way to grab some coffee up the hill in Altadena, I saw this place. I looked them up on Yelp and saw they served up khachapuri. I used to live in Glendale and had my fair share of khachapuri, so I was so excited to try this place. For just under $10, the khachapuri was filling and delicious. It's a cheese lovers dream. Imagine tons of cheese with an egg (And your choice of protein for a little extra) and bread...it's kinda like a pizza, but for breakfast! They had other delicious baked goods as well. I got a baklava to try, and wow. If I'm ever in the mood for baklava again, I'll be sure to get them here! The khachapuri does take a while, so prepare to wait for about 10-20 minutes.

We ordered the following; -Lahmajun wrap -Foul Bowl comes with tomato, onions, green olives and bread - Mushroom turnover - olive Turnover - Basturma & cheese -soujouk & cheese -Baklava The Basturma & cheese and Soujuk and cheese were the winners. The olive and the mushroom turnover were salty for me. Lahmajun wrap was good. The baklava was delicious. It is a great Armenian place to dine in or to pick up your order.
